Robbers pounce on two Kadoma schools

made off with a computer and US$4 000.
Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the robberies.

He said the gang used the same method on both occasions.
At Martin Spur Secondary the gang allegedly tied an unarmed security guard, Cornelius Mbewe, with wires and stuffed his shirt into his mouth after threatening him with iron bars.
They allegedly forced open the administration block and gained entry before moving to the headmaster’s office where they allegedly used explosives to break a safe.

They stole US$1 400. The gang went to the deputy headmaster’s office and stole a computer before reportedly fleeing towards Harare.
The guard only managed to untie himself at around 5am and made a report to the school authorities.
At Sanyati Baptist High School, a gang of three broke the school gate lock using a bolt cutter and assaulted the security guard.

The gang headed for headmaster Mr Piason Wasarirevhu’s house and along the way met two cooks who were on their way to prepare food for the pupils.
The cooks were taken to Mr Wasarirevhu’s office where they were tied.
The gang returned to Mr Wasarirevhu’s house and broke the kitchen door before heading to his bedroom.

The gang knocked down the door to the bedroom and assaulted Mr Wasarirevhu with an iron bar before tying him to his bed.
They took Mr Wasarirevhu’s wife to the senior teacher’s house where they took away a computer and five cellphones.
The gang went to the school clerk’s house where they took cash amounting to US$27 and US$10 worth of cellphone airtime before demanding the keys to the school safe.

The clerk handed over the keys to the safe and the gang stole US$4 000.
They tied the headmaster’s wife and the clerk in the office and fled.
