Man tears off roof, rapes granny (85)

The assailant reportedly clambered over the roof after failing to break into the hut through the door.
The granny was sleeping alone in the hut in Zivera Village. She reported the matter to police the following morning and a manhunt for the suspect is on.
Acting Masvingo police spokesman Assistant Inspector Prosper Mugauri confirmed the incident.
“We have since launched a manhunt for the suspect who is still at large after he raped the helpless granny as she slept alone in her bedroom hut.
“We strongly believe that the long arm of the law will soon catch up with the suspect,” he said.
It is reported that the rapist pounced on the granny at around 10pm after his attempts to break into her hut through the door failed.
Undettered, he climbed onto the roof where he tore through the thatching before dropping into the hut where he stuffed a piece of blanket into the woman’s mouth to muffle her screams before tying her hands and raping her once.
After his heinous deed, the assailant disappeared into the darkness.
