Man threatens to divorce wife over maintenance suit

A PRISON officer, in maintenance wrangle with his wife, yesterday threatened to divorce the woman, accusing her of dragging him to court without his consent.
Luckmore Marwisa told Bulawayo magistrate Victor Mpofu that he would not let his wife, Siphosiso Marwisa, get away with publicising their domestic issues, arguing that he had not approached the courts when he proposed love to her.

“Your Worship, this woman has proved that she has no respect for me as the head of the family. She was supposed to first discuss with me before running to the courts. I swear she will live to regret because I am filing for a divorce immediately after court.”

Mpofu ruled in Siphosiso’s favour and ordered Luckmore to pay a monthly maintenance fee of $250 for the upkeep of his three children.
“I see no reason why I was ordered to pay $300 maintenance monthly when we still live together. I am a responsible man,” he said.

Luckmore was, however, embarrassed when his wife produced a photo of him and his alleged unmanned “small house” kissing as proof that he had ditched her and neglected their children.

“This man is cheating on me and this is one of the photos I retrieved from his laptop when he was kissing his small house. I have tried everything to resolve our issues but he has since stopped paying school fees. I need $300 for my upkeep and three children,” she said.
In response, Marwisa claimed he did not know the person he was kissing in the photo.

“Your Worship, I do not know the person in the photo,” he said.
Luckmore drew laughter from the gallery when he added:
“Anyway it was a joke Your Worship, I was just fooling around with my friend. I do not have a girlfriend.”
