Hardlife Mlilo, who resides at Plot Number 4 at Highway Ranch in Beitbridge, pleaded not guilty to a stock theft charge, but was however, convicted by Beitbridge magistrate Mr Carrington Karidzagundi.
The prosecutor, Miss Memory Mandityira, said on 14 September in 2010 at about 8am, Mlilo was spotted by two local villagers driving a stray cow at Driehoek area.
They then confronted him during which he told them that the animal belonged to his father and he was taking it home.
Mlilo then asked the two men to help him drive the cow and they took it to his father’s homestead.
On their way back home, the two villagers became suspicious and decided to approach Mlilo’s father the following day to seek clarification on the stray animal and the old man disowned it.
A report was made to the police and Mlilo was arrested. The stolen cow was also recovered.
