Man turned wife’s workplace into hell

AN unrepentant man has developed a habit of causing drama at his wife’s workplace.

Robert Huchi has also been accused of assaulting his wife, Benhilda Gunguwo, each time they have an argument.

He recently cut his wife’s braids, using a knife, which prompted Benhilda to seek legal recourse.

Benhilda has since approached the Harare Civil Court, seeking a protection order, against Robert.

“He abuses me verbally, physically and emotionally in front of my workmates and our children.

“He is always violent when he gets drunk as he shouts at me using obscenities.

“At one point, he threatened to kill me. I have many scars on my back from his beatings.

“He frequents my workplace, causing unnecessary drama, which can cost me my job,” said Benhilda.

She added:

“I had to run away and got treated at Epworth’s  Overspill Clinic.

“I had to take all our matrimonial property with me since I was very angry with him.

“He cut my braids, using a knife, which is the main reason which pushed me to come here.”

In defence, Robert said:

“I object to the granting of the application as l never abused her.

“She left home on her own at the end of May, when I  returned l found nothing but my clothes, she took everything that we worked for together.

“She lied to her workmates that I  threatened to kill her.”

Magistrate Sharon Mashavire granted the protection order in Benhilda’s favour.
