Man United eye Vidal

LONDON. — Manchester United are set to make a £45million opening offer for Arturo Vidal after finally opening negotiations with Juventus over a deal.
Vidal is reported to have already agreed a £182,000-a-week contract to move to Old Trafford, and after he told friends he wants to quit Juve, United have moved in.The Daily Star says talks started with Juventus this week over a transfer fee and United are ready to table an opening offer of £45million. If it is accepted, Vidal would be the Red Devils’ most expensive player of all time — surpassing the £37.1million paid to Chelsea for Juan Mata.

The main stumbling block to any deal would be that the 27-year-old must first pass an extensive medical at the club before completing the switch.

Chilean reports say he has already had an initial assessment by United doctors, but having suffered with nasty ankle and knee injuries in the past, Louis van Gaal doesn’t want to spend big on the player without getting a full diagnosis.

Boss Van Gaal has instructed United chiefs to secure Vidal’s services – provided he can pass a stringent medical. — Metro.
