FOR allegedly inserting his finger into the private parts of his five-year-old step-daughter, a Vumba man landed himself in trouble. Munyaradzi Shabhani (46) denied the charges of aggravated indecent assault when he appeared before senior Mutare magistrate, Mr Langton Mukwengi last Friday.

He was remanded in custody to November 11, 2016. Representing the State was Mr Fletcher Karombe. The State alleged that Shabhani contravened Section 66(10(a)(1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act, Chapter 9:23, otherwise known as aggravated indecent assault.

Allegations were that the five-year-old’s mother, who is married to Shabhani asked the minor to collect salt in their dining room where he was seated. When she entered the dining room, Shabhani is alleged to have put his hand inside the child’s skirt and caressed her private parts.

Said Mr Karombe: “He furthered his actions by inserting his finger in her private parts. “When the minor’s mother entered the room, Shabhani is alleged to have stopped and immediately removed his hand from inside her panties.”

A police report was made, which led to the accused’s arrest. Shabhani denied ever having inserted his hands or finger in the juvenile’s skirt and panties.
