A 44-year-old man from Mhangura was arraigned before the Chinhoyi Magistrates’ Court facing rape charges.
Allegations are that, sometime in July 2024, the complainant (11) who was in the garden was approached by the accused person
who came from his garden which is on the opposite side of a stream.
The accused person suddenly grabbed her and raped her once. He threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
The accused person raped the complainant two more times on different occasions at the same place.
Later he visited the complainant’s father who is his friend. He pretended to leave and hid near the complainant’s homestead,
waiting for her parents to retire to bed.
When the complainant’s parents retired to bed, the accused person sneaked into the kitchen where the complainant was
sleeping.
He got into her blankets and raped her once. The accused person raped the complainant twice after that incident when she was
sent to his homestead by her parents.
The complainant revealed that the accused person raped her on several occasions. A police report was made, leading to the
arrest of the accused person.
