IN a dramatic incident, a man from Bulawayo’s Makokoba suburb suffered head injuries when he was hit with a broken beer bottle on the head after being caught having sex with a prostitute in a sanitary lane.
It is alleged that Desire Mapango (23) spotted Luke Chimwanza (26) half -dressed busy poking a sex worker in a sanitary lane behind a fast food outlet on Lobengula Street Mall at around 12 am last week on Saturday.
A court heard Mapango, who was visibly on a high, charged at the pair while accusing them of having sex in a sanitary lane.
It is said Mapango allegedly hit Chimwanza with a broken beer bottle on the head.
The half-dressed poker fell and bled profusely.
The court heard that two police officers who were on patrol pounced on Mapango and arrested him.
They took him to Bulawayo Central Police Station. He appeared before Tredgold magistrate Stephen Ndlovu facing an assault charge. He pleaded guilty.
He took to the stand: “Your Worship, I’m sorry for what I did. After I saw Chimwanza having sex in a sanitary lane I thought he was doing a wrong thing, that is why I had to hit him with a bottle,” he said.
He added: “Please forgive me, I’m the breadwinner. I’m the one who looks after my two siblings who are orphans.”
He was remanded out of custody to next week on Tuesday.
