OLD Hararians coach Cyprian Mandenge is demanding more from his charges ahead of their Lion Lager rugby championship semi-final showdown against Matabeleland Warriors.He feels his boys haven’t touched the heights that he wants them to scale. The Old Boys have won 12 out of the 13 matches to rack in 63 points.
“My boys won most of their matches during the season but I still feel that they did not play very well,” said Mandenge.
“Our aim today, therefore, is to work on all areas, our strengths and weaknesses. We won 12 and lost only one match but we still need to improve before the semi-final.
“We have played Matabeleland before and so we are going for it. Let’s hope the Old Boys will do well and in the end get a win.”
Defending champions Harare Sports Club believe their contest against Old Georgians will be an exciting tie.
Team manager Freddy Penias said he expects a very tough duel.
“We are expecting our match to be very exciting and tough because Old Georgians are a good side,” said Penias.
“We are going to use the same side that played last time. We are not going to import any of our foreign-based players but we are going to use our young blood.
“We expect our young players to pull through because they have been doing well during training.
Our forwards are good and we are happy with that since they are very mobile.
“We are working on our strengths.”
The semi-finals are expected to get underway at Old Hararians on Saturday.
