DYNAMOS coach David “Yogi” Mandigora has revealed that he will field his strongest side in the battle against Highlanders when they clash in the Commander Zimbabwe National Army Charities Shield final at Rufaro on Sunday. Mandigora said it was important to keep his main players in shape by playing in such big games.
“The game is very important to us and we would like to win it so that we capture the Shield,” said Mandigora.
“We are going to field our strongest side and everyone is putting maximum effort to make it into the team.
“The absence of the three players who are with the national team (goalkeeper Tatenda Mukuruva, Carlos Rusere and Blessing Moyo) is a major blow as they are important, but it will also give other players an opportunity to prove themselves.
Mandigora also feels that Highlanders are a good side.
“Highlanders are a strong side which we respect; the match is a big one and our aim is to win it as usual,” said Mandigora.
The Commander ZNA Charities Shield, launched in 2013, has a prize money of $25 000 and winners will walk away $12 000 richer, the runners-up will collect $8 000 and the two semi-finalists will share $5 000. Among the beneficiaries of the ZNA charities include the Tsanga Lodge and Convalescence Centre in Nyanga, the ZNA Widows Benevolence Fund, Army Patients Welfare Fund and the ZNA School and Welfare Trust that supports 12 primary and five high schools.
