Maneta poured bleach on Roki’s face in retaliation after he poured water over her head yesterday afternoon.
Their altercation contravened the provocation rule and the two were immediately disqualified. This is the first time Zimbabweans have been disqualified from the game.
Thereafter Facebook was awash with comments mainly blaming Maneta for the demise of Roki, while others, especially Zimbabweans, said they were embarrassed by the behaviour of their fellow countrymen.
There were 1 178 comments on the Big Brother Star Game page an hour after the announcement.
Big Brother rules state that violence is strictly prohibited in the house. Violence can refer to self-inflicted violence, or violence towards another. Violence includes provocation, goading, bullying and victimisation.
Big Brother and its producers reserve the right to disqualify any housemates whose actions are in direct contravention of the house rules.
Biggie said he had on numerous occasions tried to warn Roki and Maneta to show restraint for repeatedly contravening the provocation rule and the two left him with no choice but to evict them.
Biggie stated: “Maneta and Roki — you have both contravened the provocation rule — repeatedly.
“Roki you intentionally provoked Maneta by pouring water over her head. Maneta, you then threw cleaning fluid in Roki’s face. Maneta, you also threatened to stab Roki. This after you had both thrown fluids over each other earlier in the day.
“Big Brother asked you both to show restraint — and neither of you did. As you are both no doubt aware, you have left Big Brother with absolutely no choice. In terms of the House Rules you have both been disqualified from the game.”
After his announcement Ghanaian model Keitta shouted “No” repeatedly, while head of house Goldie was inconsolable. Roki’s best friend in the house, Kenyan rapper Prezzo, was dumbfounded and in tears. Maneta was in the diary room and when Biggie made his announcement she let out a smirk.
Roki and Maneta packed up and headed to the storeroom amid hugs from their housemates. While Roki and Maneta packed, Keitta repeatedly hurled insults at Biggie for his “unfair” house rules. Barbz gave Roki a parting gift that brought him to tears.
Maneta was helped by Barbz and Junia to pack.
This means that the two are the second to be evicted for violence in as many weeks after DBK from Ghana slapped Zainab from Sierra Leone.
This would also nullify the Nigerian singer Goldie’s decision to save her Kenyan beau Prezzo which was so obvious the moment he was nominated for eviction.
Barbz and Keitta would live to fight another day since Maneta and Roki are evicted, because after DBK and Zainab were evicted, Biggie nullified the nominations and there was no eviction on Sunday.
Roki was one of the favourites to pocket the $300 000. Violence appears to be a problem and housemates seem not to take heed to Biggie’s threats of eviction.
