MANGADZE WINS PLATINUM FM GOLF TITLE ON HER BIRTHDAY

LUCKSEN Mangadze of Kwekwe Golf Club won the Platinum FM third annual golf tournament on her birthday at Kadoma Sports Club on Friday.

Rumbidzai Mukwakwami came second and Prisca Chard was third.

Mangadze thanked her Kwekwe teammates for setting the standards which helped her win the tourney.

“I would like to thank my teammates at Kwekwe Golf Club for helping me a lot and I call on ladies across the country to play golf,” she said.

Rutherford Tembo won the men’s category.

Fifty three men and three ladies battled for honours at the tournament which attracted golfers from across the country.

Tembo, of Norton Golf Club, also had the men’s longest drive.

Simbarashe Dube of Kadoma Golf Club came second and Emmanuel Chamunorwa settled for third position.

“I feel great to win and to participate in the Platinum FM 3rd Annual Golf Tournament,” said Tembo.

“It’s really a blessing to come out tops.

“Kadoma Golf Course is a country course and has a lot of challenges with some uneven edges but I found it easy because I was aiming for the fairway and always made sure that I got to the green in regulation.”

Platinum FM Station Manager, Davies Mugadza, said that the golf tournament’s aim was to bring together the corporate world and individuals.

“The first two editions of the Platinum FM Golf Tournaments were held in Chinhoyi and as part of Platinum FM expansion, this edition of being held here in Kadoma to basically to announce the station’s presence in this part of Mash West after the station was given a new frequency, 96.8, by the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe.

“It is at Eagles Nest in Ngezi and covers Kadoma, Chegutu, Mhondoro-Ngezi and the surrounding areas.”
