MOSES Chunga has ruled out the early return of Chiredzi FC captain Fidelis Mangezi who succumbed to a thigh injury in their home game against log leaders Highlanders two weeks ago.Mangezi limped on until the end of the match in which Nyuchi Dzegonera fell 1-3 to the Bulawayo giants at Chishamiso Stadium.

The central defender has not trained after the medical team ruled him off the pitch after the injury he suffered as he tried to deal with a second half Kudakwashe Mahachi cross into the box.

Mangezi watched from the sidelines when Chiredzi claimed their first victory of the season in Bulawayo when they beat Bantu Rovers 2-0.

Chunga said: “Fidelis Mangezi got injured on his thigh when we played Bosso here in Chiredzi. He soldiered on until the end of the match but doctors later ruled him out for some weeks because of the intensity of the injury.”

Chunga who is preparing for Chapungu’s visit at the weekend said the absence of Mangezi was affecting his defence.

“Mangezi as our captain is a very key player for Chiredzi FC but his absence will not stop us from claiming victory just like we did in Bulawayo. We are raring to go and it’s game on,” he said.

Mangezi was due to start light training yesterday.

“I will start light training today but I am not anticipating to play this weekend. I have been responding to treatment well and I believe I will be ready for league action soon,” he said.
