DYNAMOS interim coach, Genesis Mangombe has come out in support of goalkeeper Taimon Mvula who has lost the DeMbare fans after costly blunders midway through the first half of the season.

Mvula was a notable inclusion on the Glamour Boy’s starting XI which humbled Cranborne Bullets at Nyamhunga on Sunday.

The former Hwange man, had a decent start to this campaign managing nine clean sheets in 11 assignments. But, a series of high profile errors emanating from their 2-3 loss against Bulawayo Chiefs followed by a 1-2 defeat at the hands of Ngezi Platinum Stars left him cursing his luck.

Then coach, Herbert Maruwa was left with no choice but demote him to the bench with some fans even wishing he was offloaded during the mid-season transfer window.

At the weekend, Mvula profited from Prince Tafiremutsa’s setback who failed to pass a late fitness test ahead of their visit to Kariba.

He grabbed this chance and managed a clean sheet to take his tally to 10 leaving him with just four behind Highlanders’ Ariel Sibanda who is leading the Golden Glove race having featured 21 times.

Mangombe said he was impressed by Mvula’s performance and he hinted that this could be his return.

He told Zimpapers Sport that Mvula remains their best keeper. “I was more than happy for him; the boy is mentally strong because I do not think many would have handled this the same way he did. Dynamos is a big club and it takes a lot to rediscover your form when some of the fans are not happy with your performance.

“I think this clean sheet also showed that he is ready to fight for this badge again and I was happy with how the fans embraced his return. He is our first choice and it feels good when you have your top players in their best state of mind.

“We are going to make a decision because Tafiremutsa has been good in our recent fixtures, he also deserve to get a chance,” said Mangombe.

Mangombe added that he is also going to hand their third choice, Frank Kuchinei the chance to play in the team’s cup games.

“The boys are performing well and we are seeing a lot of progress though we still have some work to do. “We have good players in our squad and they are all going to get their chances along the way. I will have myself to blame of the season ends without giving a chance to everyone in the team. “Kuchinei is one of the best keepers in the country but it’s unfortunate that he has had little time to prove his capabilities. But we are considering making him our main goalie in local tournaments,” he said.
