TRIANGLE United coach Genesis Mangombe is banking on the mid-season transfer window to strengthen his squad as the team battles to escape the relegation zone.
With just 16 matches remaining in the season, Triangle find themselves deep in the relegation matrix alongside Chicken Inn, Yadah, Dynamos, and Kwekwe United.
Historically, survival in the PSL requires at least 41 points, a target Mangombe believes is still within reach, if the reinforcements arrive.
Triangle United seeks to bring experience in the likes of Nomore Chinyerere, Blessing Sarupinda, Ali Maliselo and settle for one of the forwards among Jerry Chipangura, Donald Ngoma and Elli Illunga.
The transfer opened on Tuesday and will run for the entire month.
“We want a striker who brings quality to the squad and elevates the team’s performance,” said Mangombe.
“We can’t disclose names yet as some players are still contracted but we’re looking at options like Jerry Chipangura, Donald Ngoma or Elli Illunga.”
“Our game play needs a centre forward who understands a lot of movement without the ball and that can be key for us going forward.
“We need individuals who will hit the ground running and play for the badge. There will be no time for trial and error hence we need to resort to low-profile players but with more experience.
“We are also bringing in Maliselo and Blessing Sarupinda. Sarupinda has in the past been dragged down by injuries but we believe he now looks to be in good shape and if we manage to tie him that will be a good addition.”
Triangle will host TelOne at Gibbo on Sunday.
“We are working with boys to try to drill them, particularly for them to be clinical in front of goal.
“On a good day, we should be able to collect maximum points,” he said.
