POLICE in Mberengwa are investigating a case of theft of a US$5 000 motor vehicle that was allegedly stolen while the complainant was sleeping inside his house over the weekend.

The complaint had left the vehicle unlocked with car keys in the ignition as he was charging his cell phone.

Midlands provincial police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko said the complainant parked his silver Subaru motor vehicle in his yard around 11PM.

“The next morning around 4 AM, he woke up and found his vehicle missing. The matter was reported to the police and investigations are underway. The value of the stolen vehicle is US$5 000,” said Insp Mahoko.

He appealed to members of the public who might have information that could lead to the recovery of the stolen motor vehicle and the arrest of the suspects to visit any police station.

“We also urge motorists to enhance security in their motor vehicles whenever they leave them unattended,” said Insp Mahoko.
