According to Zimbabwe All Media Product Survey (ZAMPS) results released last week, The Manica Post is the second most read weekly newspaper in the country.
The publication accounts for 14 percent of national weekly newspaper readers and 18 percent of rural readers.
The ZAMPS survey, which is conducted by the Zimbabwe Advertising Research Foundation (ZARF) – an all-industry independent organisation mandated to monitor and undertake independent market research on behalf of advertisers, the media, publishers, advertising agencies and public relations consultants in Zimbabwe – shows that in urban areas, The Manica Post accounts for 12 percent of the readers.
The publication also garnered 10 percent of online readership.
The Manica Post Editor, Wendy Nyakurerwa-Matinde said, “This shows that we are telling the Manicaland story in a captivating way. Anyone who wants to be heard is guranteed of a huge audience through us.
“While we are a Manicaland paper, people from across the country are reading both the print and online edition of the paper.”
The Manicaland-based newspaper comes after its sister publication, The Sunday Mail, which accounts for 42 percent of weekly newspaper readers.
Other Zimpapers publications, B-Metro (13 percent), Kwayedza (11 percent) and Sunday News (nine percent) outshined privately owned newspapers which include Daily News on Sunday (nine percent), The Standard (six percent), The Mirror (six percent), Zimbabwe Independent and Financial Gazette (two percent) respectively.
Zimpapers’ flagship title, The Herald, dominated in both urban and rural markets where 52 percent of readers said they had read the paper in the past four weeks.
