MANICALAND has the potential to emerge as a premier destination for retirement investments, leveraging its growing infrastructure, strategic location and opportunities in manufacturing, tourism and agriculture, Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, has said.
Minister Mugadza, who was represented by the Secretary for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Mr Abiot Maronge, said this in his welcome remarks at the ongoing Public Service Commission (PSC) Retirement Conference 2026, which will run until Friday.
The third edition of the conference is being held at Mutare Sports Pavilion under the theme: ‘Bridging the Gaps: Sustainable Retirement Solutions for Public Sector Workers.’
Minister Mugadza said the decision by the PSC to bring the conference to Mutare would stimulate economic activity, while showcasing the province’s investment potential.
“This will certainly trigger an economic boom in the City of Mutare for the benefit of our businesses and local communities,” he said.
He said Manicaland’s expanding infrastructure, growing investment, improved social services and digital connectivity were creating an environment conducive to long-term investment.
Minister Mugadza also commended PSC for initiatives aimed at transforming the Commission beyond human resource management into a driver of sustainable economic development.
“Manicaland indeed possesses the assets that position the province as a premier destination for retirement investments in manufacturing, tourism, agriculture and other sectors,” he said.
He added that the province’s strategic position as Zimbabwe’s gateway to the sea and regional and international markets further strengthened its potential as a hub for trade, logistics and industrial development.
The conference attracted delegates from Malawi, Angola, South Africa, Eswatini and Madagascar, among other countries.
