THIS year’s 18th Hlanganani/Sanganai World Tourism Expo edition has been shifted from Bulawayo to Manicaland with high expectations that the event will make a lasting impact on both local and international tourism enthusiasts.

For the first time, Zimbabwe’s premier tourism showcase which has in the last drawn participants from around the globe, will be held outside Bulawayo or Harare.

The highly anticipated expo is scheduled to take place from 10 to 12 September at Mutare Sports Club.

The province has already begun preparations for the event.

The expo is a collaboration between the Ministry of Tourism and Hospitality Industry and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority (ZTA).

On Wednesday, the Minister of Tourism and Hospitality Industry, Honourable Barbara Rwodzi, met with the Minister of State for Manicaland Province, Advocate Misheck Mugadza, and other key stakeholders in Mutare

According to the ZTA, discussions centred on positioning Manicaland as a prime destination, highlighting its breathtaking landscapes and diverse attractions.

During the meeting, it was officially announced that Mutare would host the expo.

“This initiative aligns with the government’s devolution agenda, which seeks to ensure that every province plays a key role in driving the country’s tourism growth and development,” said ZTA on its official X account.

“The highlight of the gathering was the announcement that the prestigious Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo will be hosted in Mutare this year.”

Manicaland, home to the majestic Eastern Highlands with its lush Bvumba Mountains, Mtarazi Falls, awe-inspiring Chimanimani ranges, and rich cultural heritage, offers visitors unforgettable experiences.

“The expo will showcase the province’s adventure tourism and investment potential, promising a memorable event that will leave an indelible mark on both local and international tourism enthusiasts.

“The countdown to this grand celebration has begun, with Mutare ready to welcome the world!” added ZTA.

The recently adopted National Tourism Recovery and Growth Strategy underscores tourism’s crucial role in driving sustainable development and boosting Zimbabwe’s global profile.

Hosting the Hlanganani/Sanganai Expo in Mutare aligns with this strategy by strengthening regional tourism hubs and fostering inclusive economic growth.
