For winning the crown, Manjengwa won herself a Mark II Toyota sedan, which was presented to her by the guest of honour, Vincent Mangwende.
Gail Mandimika (21) and Ruvimbo Chigabo (19) were chosen as the first and second princesses respectively.
The beauty pageant, which drew participants from Harare’s districts, is an extension of the Miss 21st Beauty contest held in February to commemorate President Mugabe’s birthday.
However, the Miss Independence Harare Province pageant is meant to support youth empowerment.
Patron of the beauty contest Elsie Zindi described the pageant as a platform to showcase young talent.
“We have seen modelling as a way of attracting the youths to join and help us spread the spirit of patriotism,” she said.
Zindi said the models also learn about the country’s history.
She said part of the proceeds from the pageant would benefit the contestants through starting up of small businesses while the rest will be used to fund future contests such as Miss Priority to be held in July.
Several dance groups as well as Mbare Chimurenga Choir, who are currently topping the charts with their hits such as “Nyatsoteerera” and “Timu”, provided entertainment.
