CONSISTENT reggae crooner, Emmanuel “Mannex” Motsi, says he can’t wait to meet fans at the annual Stanbic Jacaranda Music Festival.
This year’s edition, which runs from October 6-8, will be held at Old Hararians Sports Club.
The former Bootkin Clan founder will share the stage with Tamy Moyo, Chiwedar DJ, Those Guys Vacho, Daliwonga, Murumba Pitch and Jason Le Roux.
Now in its sixth edition, SJMF will kick off with two days of educational music business workshops featuring local and regional experts.
“I can’t wait for the performance, which comes at a time when our brand is growing popular with fans.
“When the event organisers contacted us for the show, we simply grabbed the opportunity and we are now raring to go.
“We have been holding thorough rehearsals to ensure that we don’t disappoint our fans,” said Mannex.
He added:
“We need more of these festivals to ensure that we expose talent out there.
“Zimbabwe is endowed with natural talent, which needs to be nurtured to shine and this talent can only be seen at such festivals.”
A brainchild of Walter Wanyanya, who used to run the late Oliver “Tuku” Mtukudzi’s affairs, the festival has been hailed for linking local artists with their regional counterparts.
This year, a strong line-up dominated by South African artists, will perform at the event.
Sun-El Musician, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Black Motion, Judith Sephuma and Ami Faku are some of the artists to expect at the event.
Local acts ExQ, Tamy Moyo, Selmor Mtukudzi and American jazz saxophonist Brent Birkchead are also part of the bill.
Other artists to perform at the festival are Ndlovu Youth Choir, Alexio Kawara and the Shades of Black, Sylent Nqo, Norman Masamba, Chiwedarr, Intotal Band, Gary Tight, Gwevedzi, Willom Tight, Mateo, Dino Mudondo, Nicholar, Ammara Brown, Vera, Vuyo Brown Samuel Cosmic.
