CAPS United defender Eric Manokore is delighted to register his maiden goal for the club in the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League.
He was on the scoresheet when they played to a 2-2 away draw against GreenFuel in Chisumbanje on Saturday. Manokore joined CAPS United last year from now-relegated side Cranborne Bullets where he was deployed as a defensive midfielder and scored five goals.
Since he joined Makepekepe, Manokore has been deployed as an inverted right back and has adapted well.
Only goals have eluded him to cement his position as one of the best in the country.
CAPS United have amassed 34 points and are in ninth position in the league.
Speaking to Zimpapers Sports Hub, Manokore expressed his joy.
“I am happy to have scored my first goal at CAPS United. It was a long overdue wait.
“It was good playing at Green Fuel arena where the pitch is good. It allowed the team to stamp our authority on the game and detect our game with a positional display.
“With a bit of precision in front of goal we should have easily won the game but as usual in a game of football if you don’t take your chances anything can happen,” he said.
He added:
“We have been getting results of late which is enough motivation ahead of a tricky line-up of fixtures. We have the likes of Highlanders, Simba Bhora, Yadah and Dynamos ahead.
“You would want to get into those games in the best possible form. And with the way the team is playing we are very positive that we are going to have a strong finish come the end of the season.”
