Defending champions Manunure and dark horses Chivodza will be flying the province’s flag high in the boys’ category with Matinunura Secondary School playing in the girls’ section.
“We are very proud as Midlands Province to have two teams in the finals,” said Eunias Zhou, the head in charge of soccer in the province.
“We have made enough preparations as defending champions to retain the trophy and what is left is for us to go to the winners’ podium and celebrate the hard work of our province.
“Matinunura have been there before and this time we hope to bring the two trophies.”
Solomon Matsika, the Manunure coach, was bubbling with confidence.
“I have done my homework with the team and we are just travelling to Vic Falls to fulfill the fixture,” he said.
“Tiri kunorova ma team atichatamba nawo ese. I have been working hard to assemble a new team and I am happy with the preparations. I am not afraid of any team.”
Justice Malunga, an attacking midfielder, will be expected to play the key role for Manunure and is set to be supported by Tawanda Barura and Tinashe Mwafulira, the son of former Lancashire and Mimosa captain Moses Mwafulira, who is now assistant coach to John Phiri at Mimosa Under-19. Goalkeeper Brake Pamire has been an inspirational pillar at the back.
Manunure will play Mzingwane and Rimuka 2 in their group.
