THE Mapopoma Festival that had been scheduled to be held on December 30 and 31 has now been reduced to one day and will be held on December 31.

The event will be held at a hotel in Victoria Falls with strict adherence to World Health Organisation Covid-19 protocols.
Acts set to perform are Nutty O, Feli Nandi, Holy Ten, King 98, Djembe Monks, Muffia King, Conz, Snappy and Kivo Santana.

Mapopoma communications officer Leslie Phiri said due to spike in new Covid-19 cases, they decided to reduce the festival to just one day.

“The management of Mapopoma Festival would like to advise its valued stakeholders, patrons and the nation at large that due to public health concerns brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, the Mapopoma Festival 2021 which was set to run for two days from 30 to 31 December has been scaled down to one day.

Following extensive consultations with various stakeholders and in the interest of public health, the festival will now be held on 31 December 2021,” said Phiri.

He said the line-up for the festival remains the same with all the confirmed artistes set to perform.

The aim of the festival that was introduced in 2018 is to celebrate arts, culture and the beauty of Victoria Falls through music and dance. – @mthabisi_mthire.
