glowing tribute to fellow veteran Murape Murape and shared his accolade with the pencil slim forward as a sign of acknowledgement of the role the latter played this season.
The two players are DeMbare’s lo-ngest-serving players and shortly after Maringwa was honoured by the club, he revealed that he was sharing the honour and prize money of US$1 000 with his long-time teammate.
“I am happy to receive this award and I feel honoured. It is such a great honour. I would like to thank the executive, but I also feel I should share with Murape who took the baton when I got injured and inspired the youngsters. He played a crucial role and has always served the club whole heartedly. He will get US$500 and I will get the other half. Murape has shown the young players what it means to play for Dynamos and he is a symbol of the passion that players should display overtime they pull on the blue jersey.
“I cannot give enough praise to him, and by sharing this award to him, I hope he will see how much he means to the Dynamos family and to his teammates. He led the youngsters to the league and cup double as I was sidelined by an injury, and he has consistently played his heart out.
“There have been many great players for Dynamos, some of whom I have had the honour to play with, but there are a few who would have given everything for this great team in the way the Murape has done.
“Credit also goes to George Magariro. He did a very good job with the team and I really salute that,” said Maringwa.
The Dynamos skipper also played a big role in encouraging the midfielder to change his heart when he annou-nced that he was hanging his boots.
Meanwhile, Maringwa said he will comment on his Champions League omission when the time is ripe.
Dynamos coach Calisto Pasuwa said his technical team had to take the decision to leave Maringwa out following the recommendations by the medical team.
