THE past month has seen Marius Keng making waves on ZiFM’s Bulawayo Top 10 Chart with his chart topping hit Fallin in Love. The song has been on the number one spot for four weeks in a row. The little known artiste, Bokang Ndlovu (22), is from Cowdary Park suburb and goes by the name Marius Keng.

He is a second year student at the National University of Science and Technology studying Operations, Research and Statistics.
He said he began producing music at 14 when he was in high school.

“I started producing tracks when I was 14 years old and at that time I was at St Columba’s High School. I had a computer at home and I was using software called Fruity Loops and could produce beats but they were not of quality. I continued trying this and when I was in Form Five I started producing quality beats,” said Marius Keng.

He said it was only after veteran Bulawayo producer Joe Maseko heard one of his tracks that he introduced him to Gibson Ncube.
“My first hit took us more than a month to produce the beat and then after that we laid the lyrics on the track. It is hard work and long hours. We then went to Matshe Studios and worked with DJ Wexey last year in November to record,” said Marius Keng.

Maseko has produced the likes of hip hop artiste such as Proud of You (POY) among others under his recording studio, The House of Rising Sounds.

Marius Keng said he would like to work with South African artistes Spirit Chasers and Soul Candi because of their style of music.
