BULAWAYO dancehall artistes have been urged to bring their music to radio stations so that they make their mark on the Zimbabwe dancehall music scene. This was said by Power FM’s Legendary Sound DJ Smylie on the sidelines of their show held at Club Forty40 on Friday night.

He said Centre Party was the only artiste from Bulawayo who has sent them dancehall tracks over the years.
“I urge all the dance hall artistes from Bulawayo to bring their music to us so that we play them on  radio. I only know of Centre Party who brought his music to me personally and we played it on radio because we liked it. So all others can bring their music and if it is good we will play it,” said Smylie.

Smylie said Zimbabwe dancehall has grown big as evidenced by the reception they got when they went on stage.
“A while back Bulawayo dancehall was not that big but after this show I have realised that Zim dancehall has taken over especially here is Bulawayo. I noticed when Centre Party was performing with his team he got good reception from the crowd,” said DJ Smylie the man behind the Magetsi dance.

The show kicked off at 11.30PM at a fast pace as DJ Smylie went on the mic amid wild cheers from revellers.
Scenes of frenzied revellers jumping up and down with others imitating what they saw on stage were the norm at the venue.

DJ Mad Vancho also took to the decks and he belted out tunes that got revellers in the mood for nonstop dance.
They played tracks from Jamaican artistes such as Sizzla Kolanji, Capleton, Fantan Mojah and Zimbabwe dancehall gurus such as Winky D, Sniper Storm, Guspy Warrior and Shinso Man.

Artistes from the city such as Centre Party, who opened the show on Friday night for Legendary Sounds, have shown their mettle.
Centre Party, performed some of his songs such as Mhando Yepamusoro, Havagutsikane and Wadanana neshumba.
He mixed it up with singing along songs by Jamaican dancehall artiste Mavado and other musicians.

Club Forty 40 resident DJs Mzoe, Fritz, Humble Kid, Ash T and Phibz took over until the wee hours of Saturday.
