Marka-e-Haq: Pakistan answers Indian aggression

ON May 10, 2026, Pakistan celebrated the first anniversary of Marka-e-Haq (Ascendance of Truth), which gave a befitting response to Indian unprovoked aggression against Pakistan in the wake of the Pahalgam incident on April 22, 2025.

Without providing any evidence and despite Pakistan’s offer of an impartial inquiry, India blamed Pakistan for the incident and carried out missile strikes on May 7, at four places inside Pakistan and two places in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, killing 33 Pakistani civilians and injuring many.

The Pakistan Air Force immediately responded in self-defence by shooting down eight Indian Air Force jets, thereby demonstrating its professional and technical capability in mastering the skies, a stunning feat in modern warfare that is likely to become a legend in the annals of military history.

Still, Pakistan’s response was measured, given the fact that more Indian Air Force jets had been locked for strikes.

Over the next two days, May 8 and 9, 2025 India escalated the situation by launching drones into Pakistan, most of which were intercepted, and in the early hours of  May 10, intensified its irresponsible, unlawful and belligerent conduct by carrying out further missile strikes inside Pakistan.

This drew a thumping response from the Pakistan Armed Forces in the shape of Operation Bunyanum Marsoos (Strong Wall), during which multiple military sites in India and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir were struck and demolished, forcing India to plead for a ceasefire mediated through the good offices of the United States.

The whole episode brought home the reality to India that Pakistan is fully capable of defending itself through conventional means as well, while also shattering the false narrative on terrorism that India had been propagating for its own political and vested interests.

It once again brought the internationally recognised Kashmir dispute to world attention, reminding the international community that unless it is resolved in accordance with the relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, durable peace in South Asia would not be possible.

Marka-e-Haq has raised Pakistan’s global standing in a phenomenal way, and having achieved resounding success against India — acknowledged by the international community and the world media — Pakistan has embarked on a journey of playing a constructive role in maintaining global peace and security.

Pakistan’s efforts in achieving a ceasefire in the US/Israel-Iran war have won global accolades, and as the country basks in glory it continues to send a clear message: Pakistan is a responsible state, fully capable of defending itself against any aggression while remaining an ardent advocate for resolving international disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.
