Marondera community has gained an eyecare clinic, marking a significant step in expanding access to affordable eye health services in Mashonaland East.
This development comes as The Eyeroom Optometrists officially opened its twelfth branch in Marondera under a private sector initiative aimed at reducing preventable blindness.
The programme complements Government efforts to achieve universal health coverage under Vision 2030, while beneficiaries say the clinic is already transforming lives.
One of the beneficiaries, Ms Chantel Muramatini expressed gratitude for the free eye screening services.
She said the clinic was a timely intervention offering both affordability and accessibility.
“We are very happy we have the eye clinic that has just opened, and it is very beneficial to us because they are offering free eye testing right now.
“They have very affordable frames and lenses, and it is going to benefit the Marondera community in so many ways,”she said.
Pastor Stanley Nyagope highlighted the advanced technology and the broader meaning of vision for the community.
“I was looking at the systems there and the technology that they are having, you can not believe it that it isnow here in Marondera, and it is some excellent work to actually improve our sight so that we can see clearly.”
He added,“It enhances vision and gives us clarity of vision, aligning us to purpose and even to the vision of the nation. We are so thankful for Eyeroom and for what they have brought here.”
In his sentiment, The Eyeroom Optometrists CEO Dr Isaac Alormele emphasised that the new branch was more than an expansion.
He said it is an extension of their mission.
“Today, we do more than open another branch, we extend a vision.
“Our purpose remains unchanged: to protect sight, transform lives and redefine the standard of eye care in Zimbabwe,”he said.
The Eyeroom Optometrists Director of Sales and Marketing Miss Linda Mhindu emphasised company’s leadership alignment with national health priorities.
“We are in alignment with the Vision 2030 National Health Strategy, launched this year in July by our Minister of Health.
“We are going to be offering comprehensive eye care services with state‑of‑the‑art equipment, stylish frames, and very affordable options,”said Miss Mhundu.
The opening of The Eyeroom Optometrists in Marondera demonstrates how private sector initiatives can complement government health strategies, ensuring communities gain access to essential services.
