Marshal Gore promises stability and success in Zimbabwean football

ASPIRING Zifa president, Marshal Gore, has made a passionate plea for transparency, accountability and inclusivity in the sport’s governance structures.

Gore has been engaging with football stakeholders and the electorate across the country, listening to their concerns and sharing his vision for the future of Zimbabwe football.

Gore’s interactions with stakeholders are reported to have been overwhelmingly positive, with constructive discussions focusing on key areas like grassroots development, infrastructure and governance.

He has identified several critical issues that need to be addressed, including the lack of investment in grassroots football, outdated infrastructure and the need for a more inclusive governance structure.

“We have been warmly received, and it is encouraging to see the passion and commitment people have for the future of Zimbabwe’s football. The discussions have been constructive, focusing on key areas like grassroots football development, fostering acceptability, and promoting shared ownership of football initiatives. This shows a unified desire to rebuild and elevate our football, and I am grateful for the support and input from everyone involved.

“Several critical issues have come to the fore during our engagements, key among them being grassroots development. There is a clear lack of investment in grassroots football, which is the foundation of any thriving football ecosystem.

“In terms of infrastructure, the facilities across the regions are outdated and insufficient to support the growth of the sport. In governance, there is a pressing need for transparency, accountability, and a more inclusive governance structure in our football administration,” said Gore.

Gore also shared his thoughts on women’s football.
“Young players need structured pathways for development, including exposure to international opportunities. Women’s football remains underdeveloped and requires urgent attention to grow and thrive. Addressing these issues is crucial for rebuilding trust and fostering growth in the sport.

“Our vision is to create a sustainable, professional, and inclusive football environment that unites and inspires the nation. These plans are aligned with the Government’s Vision 2030 objectives and National Development Strategy 1 to ensure broader impact and growth for Zimbabwean football,” said Gore.

With over 25 years of experience in advancing Zimbabwe football, Gore boasts an impressive resume that includes stints as a player, coach, administrator and consultant.

His professional career spans over 30 years in football, healthcare, and business, with notable achievements including the establishment of the Power 11 Football Academy and support of grassroots football projects like the Rusike Area Zone League in Goromonzi.
