Marshall Jnr threatens to sue Nyamandi over use of band name

the name despite Marshall Jnr’s threats.
Following the impasse, Munhumumwe has in writing ordered Nyamandi, who is also the owner and founder of Makombe Brothers, to stop masquerading as the leader of his late father’s once-gifted band.
A letter was served to Nyamandi by the family lawyer, Vasco Shamu of Shamu and Associates, who is already preparing papers to file for a legal action.
In an intersting twist to the saga, Nyamandi alleges that he was given permission to use Four Brothers as his band’s name by the Minister of Media, Information and Publicity, Cde Webster Shamu.
“I think most people know that I own my own band Makombe Brothers but it was Minister Shamu who approached me and begged me to use the name Four Brothers for the betterment of the group.
“After realising that all the founder members of the Four Brothers had died Minister Shamu told me to rescue the name and continue with the legacy left by Marshall.
“If there is anyone who has the power to stop me from using the name Four Brothers, it has to be Minister Shamu. He is the only one who can tell me what to do otherwise I won’t stop using the name.
“People must know that the current Four Brothers are members of Makombe Brothers. I am not related to Munhumumwe neither was I a member of the Four Brothers but I started leading the Four Brothers after Marshall suffered a stroke.
“I was spotted by Simon Mabaleka, the then producer of Four Brothers, who said my voice and musical style was the same as Marshall’s hence I was the solution to their problem.
“This is the reason why I quit my own Makombe Brothers to lead the Four Brothers from 1997 to 2002.
“After Marshall’s death I went back to Makombe after I was booted out by the late Frank Sibanda and only started using the name after meeting with Minister Shamu in 2010,” he said.
Marshall Jnr said his late father’s band was no more following the death of Frank Sibanda.
“The Four Brothers band is no more. The last person to lead the band was Frank (Sibanda), who died in 2010.
“Nyamandi has appointed himself as the new Four Brothers band leader without our approval.
“He is lying that he was appointed as the new Four Brothers leader by Minister Shamu,” said Marshall Jnr.
This is not the first time that Nyamandi has been involved in a row over using the band’s name and claiming to be its leader.
