THE Mashonaland East Agricultural Show kicked off today in Marondera, with this year’s event attracting exhibitors from Kenya.
This year’s event, which is running under the theme, “Agriculture: The Future-Growing The Economy”, has attracted a higher turnout of exhibitors compared to last year.
A total of 110 exhibitors have taken up space at this year’s showcase compared to 101 for last year.
The Mashonaland East Agricultural Show is the biggest annual event in the province.
Several artists, including Jah Prayzah, are expected to perform at the event.
Mashonaland East provincial show manager, Mr Tonderai Choga, said the turnout of exhibitors was impressive, adding that they are expecting more to attend the show.
“The turnout of exhibitors is quite impressive compared to last year. We have received an overwhelming response from exhibitors, including international exhibitors from Kenya,” he said.
“We have added more gates to reduce queues. We want people to enjoy the show; they must not wait for too long to get into the showgrounds.
“We also built a block with state-of-the-art bathrooms.”
When Zimpapers visited the showgrounds, some exhibitors were busy putting final touches to their stands.
The Zimbabwe Defence Forces’ stand is expected to draw large crowds since it has a helicopter.
