CEPHAS Mashakada’s widow, Eunice, says her wish is to witness her late husband’s public memorial gala.

Mashakada died in 2011 due to complications with diabetes.

In an interview with H-Metro, Gogo Mashakada said:

“My dream is to witness my dearest husband Cephas Mashakada’s memorial gala being held in his hometown of Chitungwiza.

“After being at Chitungwiza Central Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit, my only dream is to witness Cephas Mashakada’s memorial show.

“I just did the formal one, but I was expecting (Alick) Macheso to push for the public one because he was Mudhara’s closest young man.

“I often see memorial shows for other artists being held and that pains me,” she said.

She also thanked those that helped her when she was admitted to hospital.

“There are Good Samaritans like Dr Johannes Marisa who helped me with money and medication.

“He used to call, comforting me and telling me what to do.

“I would also like to thank Alick Macheso and his wife, Nathan Fundukwa and Mai Gwaze. Mai Gwaze stayed with me in hospital until my child came back from South Africa. She is a unique mother.

“I thank God because as a widow, God fulfilled my wish. I finally finished my house in Chitungwiza and moved in,” she said.
