The Government on Friday handed over five ambulances to five health institutions in Mashonaland West province as part of its thrust to ensure improved health care and rapid response to emergencies.

The ambulances were handed over to the Provincial Medical Director, Dr Celestino Dhege, by Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo in Chinhoyi this morning ahead of the Provincial Development Committee (PDC) meeting.
Some of the health institutions that received the ambulances include Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital, Chegutu District Hospital and Karoi Hospital.

The highly-equipped ambulances have rollable stretchers, oxygen tanks, potable suction machine and humidifiers, among other things.
Dr Dhege said while the province still has a deficit of ambulances, the five handed over today are going to help save lives.
