A SUSPECTED armed robber, who benefited from jailed prosecutor Henry Muringani’s criminal enterprise of forging papers and granting bail to armed robbers, has been nabbed.
Conwell Kasambarare has been charged with defeating the course of justice.
The court heard that on January 9, 2021, Kasambarare teamed up with Mike Harris Chiyangwa, Spicer Takawira and Chamunorwa Takawira, and robbed Petzim Service Station in Machipisa, Highfield.
They were armed with a pistol and pretended that they wanted fuel for their car.
They confronted the security guard and tied his limbs with shoe laces at gunpoint.
They went to the office, where they attempted to break a safe, but failed.
They stole 14 Exide batteries which they loaded into their car and drove off.
They appeared in court and were granted bail.
While on bail, Kasambarare went on to rob Mashwede offices in Arcadia, and was arrested.
He tried on several occasions to apply for bail and failed.
He, however, managed to engage prosecutor Muringani, who altered his papers to unlawful entry, and he was granted bail, and had been on the run since.
Muringani was handed a 20-year jail term for criminal abuse of duty.
