Maskandi artistes release Covid-19 song

MASKANDI artistes have teamed up to come up with a song that addresses the Covid-19 pandemic as part of efforts to curtail the scourge.

Combining under the banner, Zim Maskandi, the musicians narrate the preventative measures that people have to take to ensure they are not affected by the coronavirus. One of the singers, Mhlambi weZinja said with the virus causing havoc throughout the world, they felt it proper to play their role and assist in spreading information on the virus.

“Time immemorial, music has been used to convey critical messages in society and we felt we should also do our part as maskandi musicians to bring out information relating to the virus. An informed people can handle any situation better and by simply listening and adhering to advice proffered by medical professionals we can save a lot of lives and help contain the spread of the virus,” he said.

Mhlambi is joined on the vocals by Bhamuza, Iqhathanzipho, Gaz’elimnyama, Bheki Mageza and Maqhuzu. The song features a medical doctor giving advice to a patient, informing about the symptoms of coronavirus. It also urges people to wear face masks, practice social distancing and rallies the nation to fight and conquer the virus.

The vocals are laid on an up-tempo maskandi beat that features Haqaza on the bass guitar. The song was produced by Nash at Rock Up Studios in Pumula North.
