HIGHLANDERS’ man of the moment, defensive midfielder Mason Mushore, has challenged his teammates to focus ahead of the Castle Lager Premiership tie against ZPC Kariba away at Nyamhunga Stadium on Saturday.
The linkman is playing a game of his life and many believe he is the best midfielder on the land at the moment with 11 Premier League games played.
“We just have to focus and go and play well and try to get three points,” said Mushore.
His elder brother Mackinnon who was present when Zimpapers Sports Hub interviewed him, said Highlanders were not worried about facing the best defence in the Castle Lager Premiership season last season. He believes in t5he arsenal they have at the club.
“As for our team I think we are capable of scoring against any team in Zimbabwe, I think it is working very well in terms of us scoring and stuff but you know football at times it will come in a different ways, but we just hope to get three points, we just have to work hard,” said Mackinnon.
Mackinnon said growing up in Harare’s Budiriro suburb they heard and got to know about Highlanders.
“I don’t think there is anyone who doesn’t know Highlanders, it is a team that every footballer wants to play for, we might not have known a lot that time but we knew a lot of things because everyone wants to play for Highlanders,” said the attacking midfielder brother.
Mason is combative and creative, and runs from box to box and when need arises, he tightens his grip on tackles and it is no surprise that he has already served a suspension already. He has brought the grit that was missing in the
Highlanders engineroom as the other anchorman Melikhaya Ncube is good positionally and marking, Gillian Nyathi with the right built and a physical presence, is yet to come to the party and add that bite when destroying moves like
Mason and former Hwange and Chicken Inn star Thabani Goredema and Cedric Chinomona who was with Arenel last year.
The ZPC Kariba match is one of eight ties set for Saturday with the Harare derby pitting Dynamos and Caps United set for Sunday.
