Masowe eChishanu UK launches CD, DVD

Vose”, “Ndaiwana Zororo” and “Variko Baba” among others.
The launch was attended by director of National Arts Council of Zimbabwe, Mr Elvis Mari, members of the Chipale community in Binga, officials from Zimua, Mr Sibindi from Metro Studios, several members from the media fraternity, Baba Machanic Manyeruke and a few apostolic musical groups.

Among members of the Masowe eChishanu Church UK who attended the launch were Madzibaba Foreman, Madzibaba Bright, Madzimai Enia, Madzimai Lyndie, Madzibaba Cobnage and Madzibaba Chad.

Minister of Media, Information and Publicity, who is also patron of Zimbabwe Union of Musicians, Cde Webster Shamu was expected to officiate at the event but was, however, unable to do so due to last-minute commitments elsewhere.

Delivering a speech during the CD and DVD launch, Madzibaba Foreman, who spoke on behalf of Masowe eChishanu UK, said they had been pleased with results from their last musical project and added that as a church they were ploughing back to the community proceeds from their album sales.

“We have seen great results coming from our first project. We said before that we sing to spread the gospel of Christ on earth, and so we are seeing the results of that. We promised to plough back proceeds from our album sales. That’s what we have been doing,” he said.

Since the launch of their first CD and DVD albums titled “Yeso Arikushevedza”, Masowe eChishanu UK have been involved in charitable projects in Binga and Harare, and they also sponsor various programmes on local radio stations.

Among radio programmes there sponsor include “Nziyo Dzechitendero” on Radio Zimbabwe, “Nguva Yevarwere”, “Zviziviso Zverufu”, “Isikhati Sesifikile” and new programmes on Power FM namely “Gospel Show” and “No More Tears”, a new hospital messages programme.

“We said to ourselves we cannot assist every needy person with money but we can go on radio and buy airplay then give everyone food for the spirit, namely the word of God. That way we will have not disriminated against anyone,” said Madzibaba Foreman.

He said their latest CD and DVD albums “Variko Baba” contained songs which bring the sinner closer to God and that all the songs contained on the album reminded Christians to remember to always pray.

He said prayer was an important part of a believer’s life and that it was important for believers to keep God’s Ten Commandments which were given by God to Moses on Mount Sinai in order to keep alive our hope of making it to heaven.

“The name ‘Variko Baba’ which is also our track number five carries an open invitation to heaven. It sends the message that although this project was done by Masowe eChishanu UK this music is not for the Apostles only but belongs to all of us who want to go to heaven,” said Madzibaba Foreman.

Speaking at the same event, Mr Mari said his organisation was proud of Zimbabwean gospel artistes in Diaspora who took pride in the Christian gospel and remembered to record and or distribute their music back home. He said music was an important element in the social development of communities and that the music of Masowe eChishanu UK was both pleasing to the heart and ears of the listener. He added that the National Arts Council of Zimbabwe was happy with the social responsibility component of Zimbabwean artistes who now engage in acts of charity unlike in the past when artistes were looked down upon by the community.

“Musicians have in the past been perceived as people of no morals, people who were not able to help anybody but were supposed to be a subject of mercy and charity but I think we now see a transformation.

“I need to applaud artistes in Zimbabwe and the Masowe eChishanu UK, in particular, for changing the perception of society that musicians can also help the disadvantaged members of our community,” said Mr Mari
