AWARD-WINNING artist Master H says his new song, ‘Haudi Kudiwa,’ is about love.
The song, which features upcoming songstress Anika, is sitting at more than 150 000 views on YouTube, just days after its release, and has caused a stir on social media.
In an interview with Zimpapers Arts Hub, Master H said the song is about love and was inspired by current societal love settings.
“The song is a heartbreaking love song and was inspired by the current status of relationships, marriages that we have been reading or hearing about either on social media or in the newspapers.
“We are talking of marriages of mostly today’s generation.
“The song’s idea came when I was having a phone conversation about a future music collaboration with a fellow Zimbabwean based in the United Kingdom artist, who is popularly known as Qounfused.
“We then agreed it would sound better if the song featured a girl and that is how Anika came about.”
Master H said he identified Anika from the ‘Bottom Camp’ and she is very versatile, keen to learn and happy to work with anyone outside the stable.
“We had a chat about the song and she immediately jumped on board without hesitation. We shot the video in South Africa with reputable music and fil director Mula VIP Rentals.
“I won’t defend stories about my collaborations.
“People are entitled to their opinions and I respect their opinions. I have my side and my job is to make good music.
“I have made hit songs alone but because of my creativity and love of other artists and to help groom upcoming talents, it leads me to have collaborations. I can be myself but, with the current trend, collaborations are the way to go.”
So far, he has done collaborations with stars like Tamy Moyo, Jamaica’s Capleton, Kae Chaps, Nyasha David, Oriyano, Freeman, Nutty O and Bagga, among others.
The Zimdancehall artist said his music is evolving and is aiming to hit the Nigerian market.
“I believe that my musical career has evolved beyond measure and I thank God for the unbelievable miracles in my life and yes, of course, the huge fan base, which is always rallying behind the movement.
“My wish is to make good music that can resonate with the majority so, for growth, anyone outside Zimbabwe, particularly in Nigeria, will do. I feel like collaborations resemble unity and oneness in the entertainment industry, they also help in engagement and growth on musical platforms.”
Asked about the new album since he has been dropping singles, the musician said “always expect the unexpected from ‘The General’.
“When the music scene is ready or conducive for me to drop the album, definitely you would hear it.”
