THEMBANI Masuku made an immediate impact on his return from injury as he scored a brace to steer How Mine to a comprehensive win and sink Shabanie Mine deeper into relegation at Maglas yesterday.

The former Motor Action man was on target in the 35th and 46th minute with Godfrey Nguwodzawo weighing in with the other goal in the 40th minute as How Mine made huge strides to move away from the relegation mix.

Shabanie, who in contrast are facing demotion, replied through a well taken penalty by goalkeeper Victor Twaliki in the 69th minute.
Twaliki appeared at fault for all the goals Shabanie conceded and the home fans were not amused as they responded by hurling missiles and calling for his substitution.

The defeat pushed the hosts deeper into relegation and, after the match, police had to disperse the crowd that was calling for the goalkeeper’s head.

The police also escorted the team bus to Shabanie Mine Club.

His counterpart Tapera was putting on a brave face.

“We lost the game. We conceded three stupid goals. We lost as a team and we are now going to regroup and plan for the next game,” said Shabanie coach Jairos Tapera.

The absence of Douglas Sibanda, Rowan Nenzou, Zvenyika Makonese and goalkeeper London Zulu was felt by the hosts.

“I have never talked about relegation,” said How Mine coach Luke Masomere.

“My team survived a long time ago. We played well this afternoon.”
