HOW Mine midfielder Thembani Masuku was a happy man yesterday after striking the solitary goal that dumped defending champions Dynamos out of the Mbada Diamonds Cup at Rufaro.The former Shooting Stars midfielder made all the difference.
“I am very happy to have scored the goal that made all the difference and hopefully I will continue with the same form in the next games,” Masuku said.
“I hope to continue scoring important goals for my team, it is good that our coach told us to go and enjoy ourselves and we managed to do just that.
“We had a good game plan, which worked in our favour and it is good to progress in such a tournament”, he said.
The gritty midfielder also said they were ready for any of the remaining teams in the tournament.
“We are prepared to face any team and we hope to go all the way to the finals. The good thing is we have managed to eliminate the defending champions, which means that our team is strong.
“Cup games are difficult, but this one it is now water under the bridge and we will wait for the draw,” Masuku said.
There was a capacity crowd at Rufaro yesterday, thanks to the cheapest ticket going for US$1 and in a symbolic gesture, Mbada Diamonds corporate affairs executive, George Manyaya, joined the queue and paid his US$1 to enter.
