Masunga a happy man

The golfer says he now wants more titles.
Masunga managed to win the second major event of the Zimbabwe Golf Asssociation calendar after a three-hole play-off with Stewart Krog .

He beat 120 other golfers who took part in the two-day 36-hole event after shooting an impressive two-under-par score.
The seasoned campaigner said he was happy to grab his first win.
“I think it was high time that I won a major event in my career. I have been doing well but an outright win was something that just wasn’t coming,” said Masunga.

“My last round nearly let me down but carrying a healthy lead in the first round helped me survive the competition.

“I started well and managed to ensure that I didn’t drop shots on the first nine and continued with my composure in the second nine during the first day to finish on two-under-par.

“I am happy that I managed to win the tournament, the win did not come easily and I thank everyone who gave me the support throughout as it was tough.”
Masunga said he kept his composure when the going got tough.

“I kept my cool in the second round and it paid off.
I was leading going into the final round and I just had to maintain my consistency,” said Masunga.
“The course played so well and it was competitive.

“I do not think being a member at the host course helped me in any way as there are many challenges as you play.

“I have adjusted my practice sessions this year and I am looking forward to a good season as it has started on a high note for me.

“My aim is to mantain those decent outings and see how the year will end for me.
“It is every player’s wish to continue winning and the players we play against are very competitive which gives us the urge to work hard.”
