Masvingo ready for conference

Provincial chairperson Cde Lovemore Matuke said yesterday that the delegates were drawn from the party’’s district structures throughout the province.

He said all groups in the party like the Youth Wing, Women’s League and the Main Wing were represented among the delegates.

Cde Matuke said the province was convinced of meeting the target of raising US$150 000 as Masvingo’s contribution towards the successful holding of the conference.
“We are still busy winding up the mobilisation of resources and see whether we can reach our target to raise US$150 000 for the conference,” he said.

“Of course, the coming in of donations is being hampered by the tough economic environment which is prevailing in the country, but we are optimistic that we will meet the figure.”

Cde Matuke said the Annual National People’s conference was coming at a time when morale was high in the party with most villagers in the country having received agricultural inputs from President Mugabe under the Presidential Well-Wishers Inputs scheme.

He said there was high enthusiasm in Zanu-PF in Masvingo ahead of the annual conference which would precede watershed elections set for next year.

The annual conference would attract nearly 6 000 delegates who have already endorsed President Mugabe in their provinces as the party’s candidate in next year’s polls.
