A MASVINGO-BASED football club has lined up a series of philanthropic activities in the ancient city as part of commemorations to mark President Mnangagwa’s 84th birthday.
Ancient City Football Club, popularly known as Boys DzaMudhara FC, intends to donate clothing and footwear to charity while also embarking on a clean-up campaign to mark the President’s birthday.
Ancient City FC is already involved in philanthropy through paying school fees and buying uniforms for underprivileged students as part of celebrating ED’s legacy.
The team’s chief executive, Tafara Pande, said Ancient City FC has lined up a number of activities to honour President Mnangagwa.
“We want to congratulate our leader, Cde Dr ED Mnangagwa, on his birthday, and we want to assure him that we fully support his visionary leadership that has brought transformative development, firmly positioning Zimbabwe to become an upper middle-income economy,” said Pande.
“As a way of honouring the President’s legacy under the inspiration of his “leaving no one and no place behind” philosophy, we have expanded our school fees payment programme targeting disadvantaged children across Masvingo district and beyond.”
Pande said beneficiaries of the school fees prgramme were also getting uniforms.
“We have also lined up a clean-up exercise as Boys Dzamudhara across Masvingo City to keep our home clean while also mobilising foodstuffs and clothes for disadvantaged children,” added Pande.
He said the clean-up campaign will add impetus to the ongoing campaign by Masvingo City Council to reduce chaos and install order in the central business district.
Pande noted that Masvingo City would achieve its goal of morphing into an industrialised metropolitan area by, among other things, maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
Ancient City FC was founded early this year to uphold and celebrate President Mnangagwa’s legacy in Masvingo City as he steers Zimbabwe into an upper-middle-income society.
