Masvingo teen drowns

A 15-YEAR-OLD Masvingo boy drowned while swimming with relatives in Gunikuni Dam, police confirmed. Masvingo police spokesperson Chief Inspector Peter Zhanero said the incident occurred on Sunday at around 4PM. He said post-mortem was waived by Masvingo magistrate Langton Ndokera because no foul play was suspected.

“Tragic Tony Chiweza of Village 8, Murkosi Resettlement, was swimming with three relatives at Gunikuni Dam when he drifted to the deep end in the middle of the dam and drowned.

“Villagers searched for the body but they  could not find it.  The following day a report was made to Gunikuni police who attended the scene. Police managed to retrieve the body,” he said.
