GET ready for a night of laughs as the Mahlekisa Comedy Nights start tomorrow at Bulawayo’s Da Flame restaurant. The Mahlekisa Comedy Nights are held every last Friday of the month.Six comic acts are geared to do their best.
The six – Keith Nkosi, Long John, Zwelibanzi “Zwekxy” Mackena, Libo HO’ Ntaka, Elando Marshall and Nomsa Diana Muleya – are carving a niche on the city’s comedy scene.
Speaking to Chronicle Entertainment during rehearsals yesterday at the venue, the first lady of Bulawayo comedy, Nomsa Muleya, warned those who attend to have medical aid cover.
She said she would take to the stage as the grand finale and promised she will do her best to entertain the crowd.
“We are working on my set. People who come should have medical aid cover, as they will leave with broken ribs. They will definitely need it after we are done with them,” said Muleya.
Muleya said the show would be two hours beginning at 7PM and ending at 9PM. She said there would be curtain raisers at the show in order to promote budding artistes.
“This is part of our efforts to promote the up and coming comedians,” said Muleya.
Spit fire comic, Ntando van Moyo, who will be the master of ceremony, said the Mahlekisa comedy series have come to soothe the “January disease”.
“We will smoothly usher people into February so that they forget the ever contagious and perennial January disease,” he said.
