MASVINGO will play host to the National Association of Secondary School Heads (NASH) Under-20 national soccer tournament for both boys and girls from July 30 to August 1.
Twelve women soccer teams from 10 provinces across the country will clash at Victoria High School while boys will be at Masvingo Christian College.
Magwegwe will represent Bulawayo Province in the boys’ category and Mzilikazi in the girls’.
It’s the first time in 10 years that Magwegwe has qualified for the finals in a decade dominated by Mpopoma.
Simbarashe Tinago, the Magwegwe coach said that he is excited that his team is going to play at national level after a long time.
The participating boys’ schools are Mavhudzi, Tongwe, Tsholotsho, Kuwadzana, Allan Wilson, Rio Tinto Zhombe, Howard, Judges College, Chibi, Rusununguko, Christian College and Allan Wilson from Harare who are the defending champions.
Girls’ teams are Nyamidzi, Empandeni, Mzilikazi, Somvubu, Mabvuku, Dzivarasekwa, Dove, Pfupajena, Victoria, Chibi and Goromonzi.
Cossam Mabaso, the Masvingo head in charge of soccer, said that he is excited that Masvingo has been given the chance to be hosts of a national competition.
