ZIMBABWE international striker, Tawanda Maswanhise, marked his new contract at Scottish Premier League side, Motherwell with a goal on Saturday but his side squandered a 3-0 lead to draw 3-3.
Last week, Maswanhise signed a one-year contract extension after impressing manager Jens Berthel Askou with his “speed and aggressiveness.”
The 22-year-old Zimbabwe international has now scored 11 goals − including four in this season’s League Cup group stage − in 41 appearances since joining the Steelmen last summer.
Maswanhise is now tied down under summer 2027, with Motherwell holding an option of a further year.
“Tawanda has made huge strides in his development
“His speed and aggressiveness pose a constant threat to any defence in the league, both in and out of possession, and his start to this season has been nothing short of impressive.
“He has shown a strong desire to improve and an excellent ability to use his strengths for the benefit of the team,” Askou said last week.
Maswanhise said it was a “straightforward choice” to extend his stay, adding: “I will keep working hard and giving my all for this football club.”
And he did just that on Saturday.
He converted past the Hearts goalkeeper following excellent interplay with just 48 minutes played to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.
It became 3-0 in the 61st minute but the hosts fought back and secured a dramatic 3-3 draw with Maswanhise coming off in the 80th minute while Motherwell were 3-2 up.
Maswanhise had two shots during the game, the joint highest for Motherwell (10) together with Callum Slattery, Lukas Fadinger and Elijah Just − Sports Reporter/MSN.
