Matabeleland North schools soccer finals set for Jotsholo

MATABELELAND Province will hold its Ingwebu Breweries/National Association of Primary Heads (Naph) schools soccer finals at Jotsholo Primary School on  Monday ahead of the regional finals set for White City Stadium in Bulawayo next Friday. Naph provincial chairperson Charles Ndiweni confirmed that the provincial finals which were supposed to be held last term but had to be postponed due to the harmonised elections, were on.

“Our finals are on this coming Monday at Jotsholo Primary School,” said Ndiweni who is also the headmaster of Ndlovu Primary School in Lupane.

Eight schools from the province’s seven districts will compete to represent the province at the finals sponsored to the tune of $35 000.
The winners will pocket $2 500 and a shield while all the four finalists will be kitted by the sponsors, Ingwebu Breweries.

Runners-up will get $2 000 with $1 500 and $1 200 being set aside for the third and fourth placed provinces respectively.
As host district, Lupane will have two schools, Kheswa and Gandangula Primary Schools, Tsholotsho will be represented by Sikente, Bubi will have Loziba while Dakamela Primary School will carry the hopes of Nkayi District.

Matabeleland South will be represented by Nkankezi Primary School who beat Chasvingo Primary School 3-2 after a penalty shootout at Mvuthu Primary School in July.

Hosting province Bulawayo will have two representatives, Mtshede and Lozikeyi Primary Schools although the former were crowned provincial champions after they beat Lozikeyi Primary School 1-0 in provincial finals that were held at Induba Primary School last term.

“I am yet to get the names of representatives from Hwange, Umguza and Binga Districts but they will be there too,” said Ndiweni.
